The
 alarm
system is available in two versions, and is described below:
A
Standard Safety Turtle alarm system
requires one Base Station
(AC Powered) and one or more Turtle Wristbands.
The Base Station should be placed inside
the house, within 100 feet (30 meters) of the pool or body of water.
Turtle Wristbands are available in 5
attractive colors. Any number of Turtles of the same color can be used
with one Base Station. If a close neighbor also uses Safety Turtle, use
different colored wristbands to avid frequency interference.

Use Safety Turtle
just as you would for a child, only easier. Just attach the Turtle
Wristband to your pet's collar and you can have peace of mind, knowing
that you will be alerted the instant that your dog goes in the water.
Great for dogs that cannot see the pool's
edge or have little swimming ability. Also used in pools without

As
a minimum, order a Base Station and one or more Wristbands.
If two or
more Turtle Wristbands are being purchased to work with one Base
Station, all Turtles must be the same color.

Range System
A
Commercial/Extended Range System
consists of an Integrator Base
Station, one or more Turtle
wristbands [and/or gate alarm
sensors and/or panic buttons]
and [optionally] a Terrapin
supplied Secondary Alarm.
The Integrator Base Station has
a three contact female jack that
contains normally open, normally
closed and common contacts.
These contacts switch state the
instant the Integrator Base
Station starts alarming. The
ability to use either normally
open or normally closed contacts
allows for a wide variety of
interface solutions.
A
Commercial/Extended Range System
normally replaces the Standard
System in one of the following
circumstances:
- Desired
alarm location is more than
150 - 200 ft. [45 - 60 m.]
from immersion location or
50 ft. (15 m.) from a salt
chlorinated pool.
- Desired
alarm location is more than
250 ft. [75 m.] from the
gate or panic button sensor
location.
- Alarming
must occur both poolside and
in the residence, as
stipulated in ASTM Standard
Specification for Pool
Alarms F2208-02.
- Alarm must
be louder than 110 decibels,
to be heard throughout the
residence or outside.
- The alarm
must be communicated
electronically, e.g., to
home alarm, strobe light
indicator, etc.

Technical Notes
Safety Turtle
Immersion Alarm and Salt Water
Natural fresh
water does not greatly impede
the signal radiating from an
immersed Turtle. No matter how
fast a Turtle Wristband descends in the
water, it will always alarm on
the way down.
An increase
in salt concentration increases
water’s conductivity, making
propagation of a radio wave more
difficult. This has the effect
of reducing “depth coverage”,
the depth below which a Base
Station cannot decipher the
signal transmitted by an
immersed Turtle Wristband.
Use with Sea Water
The Turtle
Wristband
will not alarm reliably on entry
in the salty ocean water. To work reliably,
the Turtle must thereafter break
or nearly break the surface of
the water. Great for use
attached on a life jacket.
Boating – Alarming is
not 100 % reliable unless the
subject is also wearing a life
jacket.
Attach Turtle
Wristband
to rear shoulder strap [above
the buoyancy line] using Velcro
Adaptor, or to wrist using
locking wristband.
Shoreline – While not
100% reliable in all cases,
a Safety Turtle Wristband is effective with
a graduated beach. Even if the
child is knocked down by a
breaking wave, alarming will occur
when the breaker recedes.
Use with Salt Chlorinated Pools
Do you have a
salt chlorinated pool? If you
aren’t sure, consult your pool
contractor. If you do have a
salt chlorinated pool, read the
following:
The salt
concentration of chloride salt
pools and spas is typically
2,400 to 3,600 ppm, but this
varies in practice. The
concentration of bromide salt
pools and spas is about half
this. The salt concentration of
non-salt chlorinated pools and
spas, varies from 50 parts
per million [ppm] to several
hundred ppm.
For
successful set up with a
chloride salt pool, the Base
Station may have to be less than
50 ft. [15 m.] from the pool.
Above a 4000 ppm salt
concentration, the Base Station
may have to be pool side to work
properly.

Gate alarm
 The Safety Turtle wireless gate alarm
enhances the security of a safety fence. A gate alarm reinforces
the weakest link of a pool or property fence, the gate latch,
which is subject to mechanical deterioration and occupant and
visitor interaction.
Alarming from
the Safety Turtle Gate Alarm occurs if a child succeeds in
unlatching the gate, if the gate fails to re-latch after adult
entry, or if a child wearing a Safety Turtle wristband goes in
the water. Alarm will sound immediately on child entry but not
adult entry, due to a bypass switch at top of unit. The new
Safety Turtle Gate Alarm is also compatible with the
Safety Turtle
Battery Pack & Travel Bag.
Features:
Unique security and
convenience features of the Safety Turtle wireless gate alarm
include:
- The new! Safety
Turtle Gate Alarm will sound
immediately on child entry, not seconds later
like other alarms.
- Wireless feature
means you decide where alarming occurs, within 250 ft. [75
m.] of gate. Other systems alarm only at the gate, where you
may not hear it.
- Adult bypass
switch provides 11 second entry time.
- Entry time can be
extended by holding the switch
within 11 seconds.

illuminates during bypass period. It also confirms battery

The Terrapin Wireless Gate
Alarm may be used in conjunction with the Child, Adult or Pet
Immersion Alarm, which provides continuous protection of the
wearer. Turtle Wristbands and a Wireless Gate Alarm of the same
color, can share the same Base Station.
