Pool Alkalinity can slowly reduce over time. Keep your pool water balanced by using alkalinity increaser, aka alkalinity up. Carbonate blend raises alkalinity with less effect on pool pH. Alkalinity Plus products have the unfortunate effect of also raising pH somewhat, while trying to increase alkalinity. Add pool alkalinity chemicals slowly into the deep end; 1.5lbs of our Alkalinity Increaser will raise pool alkalinity by 10 ppm, for every 10000 gallons of pool water.

Total alkalinity is closely associated with pH but rather than a measure of hydrogen ion concentration it is a measure of the ability of a solution to neutralize hydrogen ions. Total alkalinity is a measure of water's resistance to change in pH.

Alkalinity Increaser is used to control the Total Alkalinity in your pool. If the Total Alkalinity in your pool is in the correct range, pH control is easier. We recommend that you adjust the Total Alkalinity before adjusting the pH, for the simple reason if Total Alkalinity is too low pH will not stay in the correct range and if too high pH can become fixed and can lead to scaling.

Makes your pH and chlorine levels easier to control!

The pH of your pool is an important measure as it determines the alkalinity or acidity of your pool. Striking the proper pH balance in your pool water is critical for safe and enjoyable swimming which is why many pool owners may find the need to use an alkalinity increaser from time to time. Generally speaking, you’ll need to increase pool alkalinity whenever the pH drops below 7.4 or when alkalinity levels drop below 80ppm. Ideally, you’ll always want alkalinity to range between 80 and 120 ppm and should you dip below this you’ll need to use a pool alkalinity increaser.

    • Use when total alkalinity drops below 80 ppm.
    • Makes your pH and chlorine levels easier to control.
    • Granular Sodium Bicarbonate.
    • Dosage: 1½pounds per 10,000 gallons will raise the alkalinity level approximately 10 ppm.
    • Spa Dosage:1-2 oz. per 500 gallons.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from RECIEVED MISSLABLED PRODUCT I have used this product in the past sucessfully but this year the alkalinity Increaser I got never raised the alkalinity but instead lowered the PH from 7.2 to 6.8 when I added about 15 lbs to 27000 galons of water. The product in the past was also cranular not powder. I adjusted the PH back to 7.1 and added the alkaiinity increaser again. The PH went back down again and the alkalinity actually went down as well 3 times.I took a sample of well water with PH of 7.1 added a pinch of the alkalinity increaser to that water and the PH went down with that water also. Calcium is an antacide that is used for heartburn to neutrailize stomach acid. It could not lower the PH in pool water thereby making it more acidic. Normally when calicium is added to pool water it will raise the PH in addition to increasing the alkalinity once the PH is above 7. The alkalinity increaser I got never raised the the alkalinity but reduced it and the PH. I used all the alkalinity increaser and only kept lowing the PH and never increasing alkalinity. I ended up using 50lbs of baking soda to get my PH back above 7 again after using all the alkalinity increaser. It is impossible to increase alkalinity by decreasing PH. To be alkaline, water or any other liquid must have a PH above 7. It is also impossible to lower PH with calicium. If you get this product from IN the Swim, test it in a water sample to make sure it does not lower PH before trying to use it to raise alkalinity. They will not consider any claim after you have used it all. Their suggestion to me was empty the 27000 gallons and start over! They have had excellent customer service in the past but this was absurd!
