Gizzmo's are used to plug a skimmer, and act as a combination plug & skimmer bottle to prevent damage to your skimmer caused by pool water or rain water freezing in the pool skimmer during the winter. This guard also comes with O-Rings so there is no need to wrap the threads of your Gizzmo with teflon tape to ensure a tight seal when threading it into your skimmer.

But the best part is the hole in top and bottom of the Skimmer Guard. This allows  you to screw in the Gizzmo to the skimmer and then attach your blower or shop vac to the top, and blow out your entire system from the skimmer. Includes hose adapter to fit 1.25-1.5 inch blower hoses, and also includes a return line plug with o-ring (Hayward SP1022C).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A question My pool is 30 years old but in good condition. Being that old, the skimmers (2) seem to have different hole sizes in which to screw in the Blowout Guards. The last ones I purchased do not fit in the holes, so I ended up using plugs in the openings along with 50 fl oz bottles partially filled with non toxic anti freeze and stones for dead weight to keep them down. It worked, but I'd prefer blowout guards if I could find ones where the threading fit my 30 year old slkimmers:-) P. S. - Excellent website...plus, I'm very pleasd with your "winterizing kits." They work just fine and when opening in the Spring, the water is clear and ready to swim in...after heating of course:-)
