Pool Filter Backwash Hose
Many counties require backwash water to be run to the sewer system (curb). These pool backwash and discharge hoses are flexible and durable and 50% thicker than other hoses. They lay flat for easy roll up when not in use. Use hose clamps (below) to connect the backwash/ discharge hose to your pool filter.
For pumps larger than 1hp, a 2" backwash hose is recommended, to prevent 'hose whip' from high flow rates, and erosion problems. 50 ft. sections of 2 inch backwash hose can be connected together with a short length of 2" pvc pipe and two hose clamps, for longer hose runs.
Before pressurizing vinyl back wash hose, be sure that it runs flat and without twists in the hose, which can kink during use, causing the hose to expand and burst. Rolling your hose up tightly as shown, allows you to unroll it all quickly and easily, thrown strongly along the ground. Rolling also prevents damage from weather, sun and animals to filter discharge hoses.
